Conte Estate Old Vine Shiraz produced from vines planted circa 1880. These twisted and gnarly vines are believed to be one of the oldest surviving Shiraz vines in McLaren Vale. The ancient 5 acre vineyard is not only withstanding the test of time, it still flourishes today. The fruit has gained flavour and complexity from over 130 years of what has become a vast, elaborate root system.
Aromas of fresh bread yeast, spiced fruit compote & black plum jam. This wine is earthy & mouth filling, packed with a saturating moorish character, and subtly gripped with fine tannins.
Powerfully long and lingering, yet soft, rich and round from start to finish, and will evolve majestically for many years.
Handpicked, crushed and open fermented for 12 days. The wine was then matured in new and seasoned French oak barrels for 24 months to allow characters to integrate and soften
