Overview

One of the pioneering carriageways in McLaren Vale, Hunt Road runs from north
to south and borders the cabernet sauvignon vineyard planted by Steve Conte
and his father in the 1970’s. An ancient creek once meandered through this block
and is still the cause of some sticky situations for our tractors during winter.

Over 30 years old, this wine is intense with flavour and aroma. Luscious and lingering, fruit forward with blackberry, cedar and slight eucalypt. Sweet spices with fine tannin and cellar worthy for many years, makes superb drinking.

James Halliday - Published on 11 Aug 2016

Night-harvested, semi-crushed and open-fermented for 10 days, matured in new and used French barrels for 20 months. This has a lot to enjoy, with a clear expression of place (the touch of black chocolate) and variety, cassis and cedar neatly joined, the tannins fine and graceful.
