Full bodied yet easily approachable, with intense aroma and flavour of dark red fruits. It is potent, yet soft, rich and round from start to finish, giving a long, creamy mouth filling sensation. Maturation in French oak barrels contributes a subtle complexity with spice & toasted characters.

James Halliday Wine Companion Magazine Dec/Jan 2012
EDITORIAL: James Halliday says:
Full red-purple, possibly not filtered; a very rich, almost sensuously, mouthfilling style, with a cascade of black fruit characters, licorice and Asian spice aromas and flavours; French oak and ripe tannins are present, but the primary message lies in the fruit. Calls out for a large chunk of quality steak. Incidentally, the cork is of high quality, and was perfectly inserted.

EDITORIAL: Conte Estate Rock Hill Shiraz 2010
McLaren Shiraz really impresses on some many levels – consistency, quality and price are three main ones. Big bold drinkable reds that deliver at all these levels should not be ignored. This one from the Conte family certainly ticks all the boxes and how. Deep dark dense meaty and chewy as well as your classic blackberries, plums and smooth mocha cream making it very easy gliding down the throat. Oak in check, tannins there and ripe, fruit not overdone. Try this with arno in forno.
Drink to 2018. 14.5%. McLaren Vale. About $25. 91/100 – Excellent.
